This walnut flute is 19-1/8th inches in length with a one inch bore diameter. Various woods used include a mouthpiece consisting of maple burl, between layers of Mexican cocobolo, capped with the curly walnut. Accent to the compression chamber includes 22mm disks of matching cocobolo, while the fetish block is cut from Virginia walnut, bonded to Oklahoma red cedar. Inlay, beginning at the mouthpiece starts with a beautiful 8x10mm iron infused mystery jasper flanked by 4.3mm turquoise domed cabs. The area forward from the fetish is set with a 14mm African cappuccino jasper, while the finger holes are accented with four 4mm abalone dots, and a 6x12mm diamond cut abalone cab. Lastly, the fetish includes a 6mm, 1.15ct checkerboard cut Brazilian azotic topaz, set to the bird’s crown, and 2.2mm faceted African cognac diamonds, set as eyes.
The finger holes are slightly dished on this flute. Additionally, it includes a slide-off (removable) wrap of western diamondback rattlesnake skin, from the Spike Box ranch outside Benjamin Texas.
The flute was tuned at 73.3 degrees F, @ 35% humidity.
