This flute has a 7/8” bore, and is 20-9/16” in length. Woods used, beginning at the mouthpiece, include SE Asian afzalia burl between layers of twice dyed/stabilized box elder burl, capped with the walnut. Each side of the compression chamber is inlayed with a 20-42mm box elder diamond, and all of the box elder has some degree of subtle hand colorizing. Materials used on the bird consist of paua abalone, birds-eye maple, madrone burl, and the box elder burl.

Inlay to the instrument, again, starting at the mouthpiece, includes an 8x10mm Mexican opal, flanked by 4.7mm turquoise dots. The diamonds to each side of the compression chamber are accented with turquoise powder from Arizona’s Sleeping Beauty mine, and offset with 6.3mm turquoise cabs. Moving to the sound chamber, I’ve inset a beautiful 13x18mm teardrop abalone cab, while the finger holes are accented with four 4mm abalone dots, and a 6mm dome cut natural amber cab. Lastly, the fetish block has a 6mm black pearl set to the crown, and 2.8mm hematite beads set as eyes.

The flute was tuned at an ambient temperature of 72.5° F, a wood temperature of 78.2°F with relative humidity of 65%, in Hermosa Beach CA. (sea level)
