Happy New year….It’s only been about 10 minutes and I already want my money back. Oh wait, wrong topic. This is my first flute for 2025. Oklahoma red cedar with a mouthpiece of macassar ebony between two layers of California buckeye burl. The fetish, and biscuit disks to each side of the flue are also cut with the ebony, and the block is bonded to red cedar for moisture control. Additional ingredients include turquoise, a trillion cut Brazilian azotic topaz, Mexican crazy lace agate, and beautiful stones consisting of an an amalgam of turquoise, spiny oyster, and copper. I also added three wraps of 1mm rawhide lace, not to prevent the instrument from exploding, but because it’s a really fun thing I like to do. The flute is tuned to F#m @ 440Hz. Please pray for all the California fire victims.
